The liveliest part of the island, known for shopping, dining, and nightlife. Great for energy and variety, though busier than other areas.
Lamai & the South Coast
Quieter beaches with a relaxed, boutique feel and a slower pace — this is where we’ll be staying.

December – April: Dry, sunny, and the most popular time to visit
May – September: Warm with occasional short showers, still a great time to travel
October – November: Wetter months with heavier rainfall at times

Getting There & Around
Airport: Fly directly into Koh Samui International Airport (USM)
Most international travellers connect via Bangkok
Koh Samui Airport is small and easy to navigate, and Rocky’s Beach Resort in Lamai is around a 25–35 minute drive. Taxis and private transfers are readily available at the airport and are the easiest way to reach the resort.
Once you arrive, all scheduled experiences and group transport are organised. During your free time, taxis and ride services are easy to access if you’d like to explore more of the island.
Culture & Etiquette
Thai culture is warm, welcoming, and respectful. A few small things to keep in mind:
Dress modestly when visiting temples (covered shoulders and knees)
Remove your shoes when entering temples or some indoor spaces
Always greet with a wai (palms pressed together with a slight bow) when appropriate
A smile goes a long way — kindness and politeness are highly valued
Bargaining is common in markets, but always done respectfully
Food & Drink
Thailand is known for its vibrant, flavourful cuisine, and Koh Samui offers everything from local street food to relaxed beachfront dining.
