Assistant

Help keep The Others Club running behind the scenes, a flexible contractor role with room to grow.

Type: Freelance / Contractor
Hours: Up to 10 hrs/week
Location: NZ or Australia-based

A community for people who chose a different path.

The Others Club (TOC) is a private community platform for childfree adults, a space to connect, discuss, and meet up locally. Since launching in April 2026, we've grown to 70+ active city groups spanning New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Europe, America, and beyond, with a social following of 25k.

New groups are launching regularly and the community is growing fast. This is a small, founder-led operation with big ambitions. You'd be working directly with me, Danni, to help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

No two weeks look the same.

This is a support role for a founder who has a lot on, with a brain that works better with someone helping keep things organised and moving. If you've worked with neurodivergent founders or thrive in a role that shifts week to week, you'll fit right in.

Some weeks it's primarily city leader support; others it's helping clear an inbox backlog, chase up loose ends, or just tackle the small-but-important tasks that keep getting pushed to the bottom of the list. You'll need good judgement, the ability to prioritise, and the ability to get things done without a lot of hand-holding.

I'll be honest: I communicate a lot. I think out loud, I message when things come to me, and I like to bounce ideas and get quick feedback. This works best with someone who's responsive and rolls with that energy. That said, I completely understand this is a contractor role; you work your own hours and I don't expect you to be available on demand. As long as things get done in a reasonable timeframe, how and when you work is up to you.

The work, in practice.

City Leader Support

  • Point of contact for 70+ city group leaders worldwide
  • Coordinating onboarding resources and follow-ups for new leaders
  • Keeping track of where things are at and flagging what needs attention

Admin & Task Support

  • Inbox triage: sorting, prioritising, and drafting responses
  • Keeping on top of tasks and follow-ups at risk of slipping
  • Tracking action items and nudging things forward
  • Managing TOC's social media DMs and comments; responding in brand voice
  • Handling the necessary jobs that are easy to deprioritise

This might be you.

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail; you're the kind of person who closes loops
  • Excellent written communication; warm, clear, and on-brand
  • Good at using judgement to prioritise without always being told what's most urgent
  • Proactive and self-directed; you notice what needs doing and do it
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a role that shifts week to week
  • Discreet and trustworthy with sensitive member and business information
  • Aligned with the TOC community; you understand the childfree experience

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting a neurodivergent founder or in a similar EA/PA role
  • Familiarity with online community platforms
  • Based in Christchurch for in-person, or anywhere in NZ or Australia (time zones matter)
The setup.

This is a contractor role; you'll invoice for hours worked, with a cap of 10 hours per week. Hours will vary; some weeks lighter, some busier. This is genuinely a role with room to grow, and for the right person there's potential for this to become a permanent, ongoing position.
